The Market: The Town of Abingdon, Washington, Lee and Russell Counties in Virginia, and Sullivan County in Tennessee
WABN AM and FM is
the voice of Abingdon with a full schedule of events, as well as live sports
from Abingdon High School. WABN’s audience includes a heavy
share of Abingdon’s 35 to 54+ year-old adults who depend on WABN for total
community information 24 hours a day.
The
radio station is located at 1007A West
Main Street in Abingdon with an open door policy
for interviews and public events. Our format is good time oldies including Doo-Wop,
R&B, Soul, Rock & Roll, and Blues. Our listeners are loyal and
responsive, not only to our music but to our sponsors.
During
2007 WABN received a first place award from the Virginia Association of
Broadcasters for the best broadcast commercial in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
In 2005 and 2006 WABN’s public service Sunday morning program, “Abingdon
Talks,” won first place in the Virginia Association of Broadcasters best public
affairs program.
WABN is Abingdon’s only hometown,
community-involved radio station.
